Contract to supply two waste combustion lines for ZRE Hamburg, Germany

27/07/2022

On 12/07/2022, Stadtreinigung Hamburg / ZRE GmbH, Hamburg's waste management company, and MARTIN GmbH signed the contract for the construction of two new boiler lines. The Zentrum für Ressourcen und Energie (centre for resources and energy), ZRE for short, is the city of Hamburg's pioneering project which shows the way forward when it comes to treating municipal waste sustainably. A complex consisting of two central combustion lines and a municipal waste sorting unit that extracts immediately recyclable material will be built in the Stellingen district of Hamburg by 2025. Each of the two combustion lines is designed for both a high-calorific and a low-calorific fraction. This allows the operator to carry out separate material balances for green residual waste and classic municipal waste. The gross heat release of the lines is 73 MW and 48 MW. The total capacity of the plant is 320,000 t/a.

MARTIN will supply the grate and boiler incl. auxiliary systems. Both lines will be equipped with the reverse-acting grate Vario.

MARTIN is proud to be part of this pioneering major project. We are looking forward to implementing this project together with Stadtreinigung Hamburg and everyone involved.
