In the 1970s, the door to further waste combustion markets was opened for the MARTIN system after cooperation agreements were signed with the Japanese company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Tokyo (MHI), the American company UOP Inc., Chicago and the Austrian company Waagner Biro AG, Graz.
The MARTIN system was particularly successful in Japan once it became apparent that it could easily achieve the high burnout quality required even though Japanese waste is extremely wet.
