Order for the delivery of 2 combustion systems

10/10/2011

In September 2011, MARTIN was awarded the contract to deliver 2 combustion systems for the Durham WTE plant in Clarington, Ontario (Canada).

Our partner company COVANTA will build the new turnkey lines and operate them subsequently.

After COVANTA had already been chosen as preferred bidder in 2009 and after all permits had been granted and all objections had been processed, COVANTA received the Notice to Proceed on 17/08/2011.

The combustion systems used are MARTIN reverse-acting grates, each with 2 grate runs. Each unit has a throughput of 218 t/day and a gross heat release of 29.3 MW. Superheated steam with a temperature of 500 °C and a pressure of 90 bar will be produced.

The VLN (Very-Low-NOx) process and the modern MICC combustion control system, technologies developed by MARTIN, will be used.

The WTE plant is to start operating in 2014.
