In October 2012, our partner MHIEC was awarded the contract to build and operate a WTE plant in Kitakami City (Iwate prefecture).

The combustion systems consist of 2 MARTIN reverse-acting grates, each of which is designed for a throughput of 91 Mg/day.

The plant will be equipped with the VLN system for NOx reduction. Further components include a dry discharge system with a MARTIN discharger, a downstream metal separator and a wet bottom ash treatment system. There are no plans to install a bottom ash melting system. The treated bottom ash is to be used as raw material for the cement industry.

The plant is expected to start operating in 2015.
